HRSi Electronic Control Unit

Included in this Ebay listing is Marlec’s HRSi Charge Regulator is specially designed for the Rutland 913 turbine. The HRSi conveniently brings together a Rutland Windcharger voltage regulator with an input for up to 160Watts of photovoltaic panels in a single easy to install device. Multi-stage charge control delivers appropriate charge levels required to ensure your batteries get the maximum power they are able to retain and remain float charged.

HRSi Charge Control Unit Technical Features

• Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) regulation is now more finely
controlled using the latest programmable microcontrollers. PWM
regulation monitors battery voltage to prevent overcharge. As peak
voltages are reached the HRSi tapers the input charge from the
wind & solar chargers gradually reducing input to float
stage level. This feature gradually reduces the speed of the
turbine to an eventual “idle” thus extending the working life
of the windcharger. As the battery discharges the wind turbine
responds by increasing speed to deliver more power. Solar
power is also tapered in the same way.
• Intelligent Microcontroller system is programmed to deliver
bulk and float phase charging. This feature ensures that batteries
are optimally charged, especially when unattended.
• LED indicators keep the user informed about battery voltage levels
and charging status
• Manual shutdown switch allows the user to stop the wind & solar chargers from delivering power to the battery if
required. The windcharger slows to an “idle” in this mode.
• Easy to connect terminals to interface windcharger, solar panels & battery connection.
• Temperature compensation automatically adjusts the settings of the regulator to take account of varying
temperatures thus ensuring maximum charging efficiency in all conditions.
• Built in blocking diode avoids conflict with other charging sources to the same battery. (1)
• Automatic voltage detection for 12V or 24V systems (2)
• Built-in charge fuse protects the wiring circuit in the event of accidental reverse polarity connection.
• User voltage programme feature allows resetting of voltage cut in levels. Requires a variable DC power supply.

An unrivalled feature of all the Rutland designs is low wind speed performance. Our high inertia generators maintain momentum and speed between gusts of wind, continuing to generate power where more conventional designs slow down losing power and requiring a strong gust of wind to restart them. This means that overall a
Rutland will generate more power into a battery bank in a day when compared to an equally sized or rated turbine and even in cases of generators of a higher "rated" capacity and turbine diameter!

Mounting The Wind Turbine

The Rutland 913 is designed to fit inside an aluminium, stainless or steel tube with an internal diameter of 41mm. (1⅝”). The external diameter MUST NOT exceed 48.5mm (1⅞)
The post adapter fitted to the 913 is designed to fit inside a standard 41mm (1⅝”) internal diameter tube. The adapter is provided with a flat on one side to clear the weld seam on seamed pipe. Suitable tubes are : Stainless Steel 13/4”16 SWG Aluminium 17/8” 10 SWG or galvanised (medium) tube for land based applications.

12 Volt system

The Rutland 913 is great for charging a battery on its own but you can take advantage of the additional 160 watt solar input of the Marlec control unit. Alternatively, this Rutland 913 Wind Turbine is a great addition to an existing 12 volt battery charging system. If you are after another voltage the Rutland 913 is available in a 24 volt version. The higher voltage models are able to utilise thinner cables than 12 volt systems.
