This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List

The Dryandra genus has been changed to that of Banksia. Normally, when this happens the plant retains its species name but because Banksia pulchella already existed the species name was changed to bella, hence Dryandra pulchella is now Banksia bella.

Plants in the now defunct Dryandra genus were endemic to West Australia. The Wongan Dryandra (it still retains its common name) grows in lateritic, gravelly soils in dense, mallee shrublands in the Wongan Hills north east of Perth in the Avon Wheatbelt. Its native habitat is very small and it has been declared a rare plant.

Growing 0.4 to 2 metres with a sprawling, dense habit it can grow to 2 metres wide. The grey-green leaves are linear in shape and up to 20cm (10in) long. They have deep serrations (saw toothed) to the mid-rib which are outwards curved and very sharply pointed. The flowers, which appear in October (southern hemisphere) are a golden yellow, 30mm (1 1/4in) in diameter and are borne terminally.

Offered is a packet of 10 seeds with propagation notes to assist you grow this rare and unusual shrub.
