This auction is for a VERY refined Ingot of Wood's or Lipowitz's Metal Alloy, composed of Bismuth, Lead, Cadmium and Tin, with mp158°F. It has been mechanically purified and fractionally solidified using many steps with missing component metal percentages reintroduced into the alloy mixture, and is not like the commercial grades of this alloy used in machine shops as a chuck for holding unsymetrical metal pieces, or for bending pipes without having them collapse. This much higher grade can be used for casting small metal objects using simple boiling hot water and is much safer than other alloys that melt at higher temperatures. The chance of fire is also greatly reduced using this alloy in the lab, shop or workplace. It is also good for forming X-Ray blockers for dosing specific areas without giving exposure to healthy surrounding tissues due to the 25% Lead content in this alloy which facilitates this application. High Quality Wood's Metal Alloy melts with Very Little Surface Lead and in clean de-ionized hot water looks like Metallic Mercury when melted - very shiney surface with high reflectivity and little or no sludge on the surface. This auction is for a 100 gram ingot of this alloy molded in a Hershey Chocolate Tin Mold and that is why it looks like a small metallic Hershey Bar. Shipping to the 50 states is $5.00 and to Canada and Europe is $7.50 and everywhere else is $10.00. Acceptable forms of payment are either PAYPAL or PERSONAL or BUSINESS CHECK or MONEY ORDER or CASHIER'S CHECK. YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST 10 POSITIVE FEEDBACKS TO BID ON THIS AUCTION unless you contact me before placing a bid. A hard to find clean version of this classic metal alloy with many varied uses for the experimenter, engineer and inventor.
