Working Bally Fireball II Pinball Machine
With serial number 2275, this is one of the last of the 2300 Fireball II units made world wide, this machine is sure to continue to appreciate in value.
Overall, the machine is in excellent condition. All switches, solenoids, targets, globes and features work.
The five 7-Digit displays are all in excellent condition with no burn marks whatsoever.
The playfield has very little wear for a machine over 20 years old. Please refer to the pictures. Most of the playfield appears to have protective mylar applied.
There are two broken playfield plastics, neither of which affect gameplay. 1) The plastic adjacent the RH flipper has been snapped in half at some stage and repaired by gluing back together. 2) The plastic just above the top flipper has a bit missing where it screws onto the black playfield frame.
The wooden cabinet has sustained some dents and scuffs throughout its life. But in general, the paintwork is vivid with no evident fading.
The backglass is in excellent condition overall with vibrant colours and no scratches. As shown in the reverse backglass photo, there is some very slight delamination of the picture from the glass near the metal rail at the bottom.
Restoration done to this machine while in my care:
The top of the playfield was completely stripped of all items, cleaned and then waxed.
All playfield items were hand cleaned before reinstalling.
Rubbers and globes were replaced where required – and that was almost everywhere.
Three new balls installed.
Installed missing MPU board. This game arrived without the original Bally -35 MPU board. I have since installed a Stern 200 MPU board running game code burned onto two 2732 EPROMs. The battery has been removed from the board and a 1 Farad mini capacitor used in its place to store game data, scores, etc.
The power regulator board has been repaired by replacing the large filter capacitors and transistors where required.
Installed missing sound board. This game arrived without the original Bally Squawk and Talk sound board. I have since sourced one from the USA, repaired it, replaced most of the on board capacitors and re-jumpered it to read sound code from 2732 EPROMs.
A
trained eye might notice a small red button inside the coin door (and
the black-white twisted cable pair in the backbox photo
running to the MPU). This has been installed
because the MPU occasionally fails to boot when the machine is power cycled
off and on quickly (issue with the board’s reset circuitry). So this button simply resets the 6800 processor manually if and when the fault occurs.

Inspection of the machine is welcome. Just message me to arrange a time. I live in the Northgate area of Adelaide.
I can supply high resolution pictures of any machine area/item of interest, so you know exactly what you are bidding on. Just ask.
While i prefer the winning bidder to collect the machine, i'm willing to ship interstate if the winner arranges all the freight details.
Obviously, I am unable to provide any sort of warranty once the machine has left my premises. However, as pinballs are of keen interest to me and i have a fair amount of experience repairing them, i don't mind helping the winner where i can with any issues via email for as long as you have the machine.
Happy bidding.
