The Worldmark South Pacific Club by Wyndham was developed by Trendwest Resorts. It is generally described as a timeshare club or vacation club. BUT unlike traditional timeshare where you have "your week" at "your resort" each year, the Worldmark South Pacific Club gives you access to hundreds of resort options worldwide, whenever you want (dependent on availability of course!).

The club use a credits or points based system to give you the flexibility to decide how, where and when you want to vacation. Each year you receive an allocation of points (called credits) depending on the size of your membership. You then book your accomodation using your credits/points. You can also 'bank' or 'swap' your credits with an exchange company (eg. Interval International or RCI) so you can accumulate your points and prolong using them. You do not have to use the credits/points each year, you have two years to use or 'bank' them.

This means you are not locked into the same place same time year after year. Jet off to Fiji for a romantic getaway, a fun-filled family vacation on the Gold Coast, relaxing vacation in Port Macquarie, fishing or escape in country Victoria, or a weekend of shopping and theatre in Sydney. There are 14 resorts in Australia & South Pacific... And even 60+ sister-resorts in the US, Hawaii, Canada & Mexico - quite exotic!

The resorts are top-class well-maintained modern facilities, usually with built-in kitchen and laundry stocked with all the equipment you will need. There is generally a choice of studio/one bedroom, two or three bedrooms. Pool, spa, sauna, gym, cafe, activity room in many resorts. Go browse through them - www.wyndham.vrap.com.

The club is regulated as a Managed Investment Scheme, registered with ASIC. But the club is intended to provide lifestyle benefits and is not intended as a financial investment so don't expect any 'returns'. You own the credits over your lifetime (there is around 70 years left on these ones!) - and you can Will them, sell them, etc. You can even pass on some credits to friends or family to use for their vacations (if you want to be that generous)!

The Worldmark South Pacific Club is the largest holiday ownership club in the South Pacific Region. There are over 30,000 owners, and there are many more joining everyday. As the Club expands, Wyndham expand their resort listings to keep up with owner demands/preferences.

As well as using your credits/points, you can book Bonus Time or Fun Time for short-notice use. You get to buy your time with cash rather than using your credits/points - but it is at drastically discounted rates. A 1-bedroom apartment will generally cost between $65 and $120 per night under Bonus Time (this is the room cost, not per person!).

Your can also use your points/credits for flights, concerts, organised/guided trips, social functions - all have certain conditions of course! Worldmark organise regular trips and functions that you can choose to join in on, for families, singles, couples.

There are some small ongoing costs for membership. Quarterly levies of $104.50, plus cleaning costs for multiple bookings over the year, friend 'gift' certificate if you are booking for someone else. These costs are adjusted every few years to take into account inflation and other costs. In my 6 years of membership, they have only gone up a few dollars!

Yet the real advantage of Worldmark membership is the prepayment and inflation-proofing of your future holidays. Considering that you can get up to a week each year plus bonus time for the next 70-years at this price is incredible! The membership fees are adjusted every year or so to reflect inflation FOR NEW MEMBERS ONLY - not for those already owning. So the sooner you get in, the cheaper your future holidays will be in real terms! And you won't need to keep shelling out for holidays every year - you just get online or phone to book your vacation.

Worldmark is affiliated with both the RCI and Interval International exchange programs for resort exchanges as well as ICE Gallery for cruise based exchanges. You can also use smaller exchange programs such as Dial-An-Exchange. RCI gives you access to around 3700 resorts worldwide whilst Interval International has just under 2000 resorts in their system. With either of the two major exchange programs members can exchange their Worldmark points for a weeks accomodation in any of the affiliated resorts subject, of course, to availability and the payment of a small exchange fee.
