Yamaha XJ900k 1983 shaft drive.Everytime I go to my farm . I get this bike out of the shed, check the oil and the tyres /reconnect the battery and take off for a ride , It has served me well!Needs a new owner as I've got a K12OOrbmw now -and it just seems wrong when I ride this. Not that I'm biased towards the newer machine -It's just too different to jump off and get on 'old &trusty' have had a lot of good times on XJ900's and can recommend them to anyone . They are the most reliable and best handling shaft drive motorbike to ever be sold with such ugly styling.I started riding them after a friend gave me a ride in 1986. At the time I had a lemans guzzi and couldn't get over what a vintage tractor my Guzzi felt like on the way home XJ9's are a bit shorter and not really good for 150mph like a guzzler-yet those days are kinda gone now-and if you ride that fast you'll be on a rsv4 or 1198!. The only thing that saves the old XJ's from being a forlorn piece of crap motorcycling history that nobody wants is the simple FACT that XJ900's rule out on the real roads that make up this wide land. I can ride past a dirt bike in MUD on opposite lock laughing at the look of shock on the guy's face or race a CBR600 up Walcha mountain-Or commute /or buzzalong all the way down the coast without stopping. I once rode to adelaide at !!)km'hr without stopping;and another time went to PI around the coast to see Mick Doohan in the GP -which is Just over 1700km's-also without stopping. If you can get past the fact that they just look weird-like a spaceship from mars!(only my opinion)then riding this bike will bring you great pleasure. This particular bike -Isold to a friend in 2003and actually bought it back again2years later, 'cause its such a good one . Oh -it actually looks really bad-yet that doesn't matter to me because theforks/brakes /wheel bearings/ starter / shocks/ steering head bearings /uni joint exhaust/petroltank and fusebox-have all been rebuilt/replaced at one time or another. I have spare engines and diffs (never needed to touch it yet though)and forks and wheels and everything else so the new owner can request a package of spares(at extra cost) to go with this bike before or after purchase. Pay in full within 5working days -if you don't or can't do that then forget it now. I'm selling this as a genuine good bike-PLEASE only bid if you want to come and get this bike and the spares. I can send it to faraway places after organising that with the winning bidder . Press -ask seller a Question and I will try to get a price estimate. This bike is being sold as-is -yet if you buy it I can on request supply replacement parts for almost any bit of it very cheaply afterwards-. The bike has staintune exhaust gearsack rack koni shocks ebc brake pads -It can be supplied with a RWC at your expense in victoria or Nsw AFTER SALE. The owner/seller has trusted this bike to get home in the dark of night-from the middle of nowhere, many times. It will be fond farewell to an iron horse with a great heart. Some people say that certain examples of a given machine are just better than the others!. It doesn't really make sense!Yet if there is an ounce of truth in that ideal-then this IS such aBIKE!So bid with confidence that the motorbike in these pictures is A LOT BETTER than it looks.Oh yeah -I DO NOT write ads for hyundais-Ok!Good luck bidding.Pickup is welcome after payment is received, which will also be required in advance of any transport arrangements-These are my terms of sale -no exceptions-

ITS SUNDAY MORNING .Iam going to ride my xj to help a friend who got flooded in the other day .may have to ride on dirt roads-so the xj may be even worse looking later today!I will be back this arvo if you have questions.Ihave been asked to be more serious about life in general-and selling up my extensive collection of mechanical items with wheels bolted on -as it has been pointed out that I only ever use one bike when at the farm for getting around .my friend says they don't get why -when I have such a lot of bikes; that I keep riding this rough lookin' thing.SO-i'm going to reduce the reserve to $1240.THAT is only about ten times the current bid-and around half what the bike is worth ifI tidy it up .IFyou people don't bid enough then I'LL have to clean it!Then with a bit of paint it will sell for more than $2000. So that's the situation .You need to bid much more than $124 otherwise the auction is a waste of time .I'm really sorry that I am not willing to part with the old bus for less than what what I'd sell the koni rear shocks for-yet last time I looked it was a complete going bike that is great to ride.I just haven't figured out yet why XJ yamahas aren't worth the money it costs for a decent night out when honda four's and kwaka 9's fetch the value of a house deposit.Maybe I COULD JUST MAKE IT INTO A KWAKA 9 REPLICA AND TELL PEOPLE THE SHAFT DRIVE WAS A YOSHIMURA HOTUP PART!I'VE GOT A TANK SOMEWHERE.I JUST DON'T GET IT REALLY?XJ900 IS SO MUCH BETTER TO RIDE THAN EITHER OF THOSE TWO BIKES WHILST BEING QUITE SIMILAR REALLY.Maybe I'm the only person to think so -yet if yu bid $1250-win this bike-jump onit and ride straight to adelaide -stopping only for petrol-YOU might agree with me!Although maybe riding motorbikes is not the go-maybe we just have them to polish and look at and talk about at swap meets and carry in trailers to shows!IN VICTORIA ON MONDAY THE GOVT IS PASSING A LAW BANNING THE CARRIAGE OF HUMAN BEINGS YOUNGER THAN 8 yearsold on a motorbike!I KID YOU NOT!So maybe the next move is to ban riding them at all. They have commercials which are specifically designed to discourage newcomers from riding-Have you seen them on tele in  Victoria;saying its 38 times more likely that you get hurt on a motorbike-using film of some person pulling out from behind a car and accelerating into the path of a 4wd in what could only be desribed as a suicide mission(I heard he was in a hurry to get to town before his honda broke down!) .I think it may be not too long before bikesARE banned and us bikers are all locked up and given electric therapy to rid our brains of the abhorrent wish to ride bikes!.BUT THEN IF YOU DON'T BUY OE YOU CAN'T RIDE ONE HEY!SO GET BIDDING THERE PEOPLE AND secure this venerable old iron horse for the sake of your future freedom! They really may just totally ban the sale of motorbikes before you realise-the way its going-and sentence any body who trades one to 6mths on a segway in tokyo's cbd!Thank you for looking at my auction .Please  don't send the thought police around -as Icouldn't cope with another interrogation! As the old song says-I DON'T WANT A PICKLE-JUST WANNA RiDE MY MOTORSICKLE!
