YashicaMat 124G 6x6 120/220 TLR Twin Lens Reflex

The Yashica 124G was a replacement for the Yashica 124 in 1971. The styling opted for an all-black 'pro' look. Perhaps not surprisingly, it is the most popular model amongst users today, the reasons being the CdS meter, crank wind/shutter setting, the Yashinon lens and of course, the black pro look.

It has a coupled CdS meter which is activated by raising the viwfinder hood. It has the superior Yashinon f/3.5 80mm lens in a Copal-SV B 1-500th shutter. 120 film for 12 exposures or 220 film for 24 exposures can be used and it's simply a matter of sliding the internal film pressure plate to select the film type; this has the effect of setting the film spacing and the film counter accordingly.

Because the 124G was often used by professionals there are some poor examples around which have had a hard life and are often faulty. But we sometimes see ones such as this which have had an easy life.

This 124G has no dents, scratches and just a few very small, hard-to-see, paint knocks on the rear edge of the film door.  The leatherette is fully intact with no tears, lifting or shrinkage. The lenses do not appear to have scratches, marks, or fungus. The focus is smooth as is the operation of the waist level finder and pop-up magnifier. The shutter is firing perfectly on all speeds and appears to be fairly accurate. The self-timer is not working, but let's face it, how many times would you really use it anyway? Most importantly, the meter is working well. You're ready to start taking photos!
