The more polite among you might call it poppycock or balderdash or claptrap, but the concept remains the same. Never in history have so many people uttered statements that they know to be untrue. While bullshit is not new, more money, more media, and more marketing spin have led to a bullshit pandemic. Today, we are so used to exaggeration, clichés, euphemisms, and evasion we rarely notice them any more. Laura Penny is an honest and hilarious guide through the phoniness of advertising and public relations, the claptrap of big corporations, the gobbledygook of the media, and the poppycock of the service industry. Along the way, she takes aim at the major culprits and the insidious ways they distort reality. Finally, with devastating precision, she demonstrates how our “all-you-can-eat buffet of phoniness” not only alienates us from each other but degrades public discourse, breeds apathy, and makes us just plain stupid. As scathing as Michael Moore, as incisive as Naomi Klein, and as funny as Al Franken, Your Call Is Important to Us is a manifesto for anyone who’s sick and tired of the twenty-first century’s tidal wave of globalised, super-sized, consumerised bullshit. It’s an island of clarity in an ocean of ordure.  This book is in very good condition.  The cover is in very good condition.  There is some minor wear to the edges, corners and to the top and bottom of the spine.  There is some minor shelf wear overall as well as some slight marks and scuffs. The book itself is in very good condition.  There are a few minor marks to the outer edges.  There is some slight wear to the corners.  There is some yellowing of the pages. Page 11 has been creased. Overall a very good copy.

Postage costs are Australia Post prices http://www1.auspost.com.au/pac/   I do not charge for packaging (as I use recycled packaging), or for handling.  Any questions regarding the item or postage costs please email me before bidding.  All questions are welcome.

At the end of the auction I will send you an invoice with postage this may take a few hours (or minutes) depending on my schedule.  Please do not pay until I have sent you an invoice.

I post up to 5 times a week, excluding Saturday and Sunday.   I generally post within 24 hours of receiving payment (excluding weekends and public holidays).

Multiple purchases are welcome.

AUSTRALIAN BUYERS (postage within Australia):

Books can be heavy.

0 to 250g   Items under 250g will be posted as a parcel or a large letter depending on size.  This means postage will be between $1.10 and $4.35.

250g to 500g   Postage will be $5.60

500g +  A parcel post satchel (up to 3kg) is $9.90 to anywhere within Australia.  This is the cheapest option for items over 500g or multiple items interstate (usually 3 to 4 books depending on size).  Within Victoria postage is cheaper depending on where you are.  For large items, heavy or multiple items please email me for a price on postage.

Pick up is possible by arrangement.

Books can be heavy. This can mean that postage on a book will be expensive.  Please please please email me before bidding if you have any concerns.  I offer sea mail postage on most items to most destinations where possible (not Italy).  SEA MAIL will take up to 12 WEEKS excluding delays.
