arit java silat dagger no keris kris criss

This is the feared arit, used in Javanese and Madurese silat as a weapon and which probably has more deaths attributed to it than any other weapon of  the Indonesian Archipelago.

This example is 43cm. (17") long, the blade is 23cm. (9") long and 18cm. (7.2") wide. This arit was hand forged from spring steel in the blacksmithing village of Koripan, near Jogjakarta, in Central Java. The blade has a makers stamp but this is indistinct. The handle is strongly made from wood with a steel ferrule.
