Title: "Frog on Vine Leaf 01" ARTIST'S STATEMENT This is a portrait of one of the many young tree frogs residing in my backyard. This image show the tiny froglet perched in the centre of a coral vine leaf. The composition emphasises his fragility and vulnerability with the tiny young froglet dwarfed by the Coral Vine’s leaf size. His body’s smooth texture and warm colour contrasting with the cooler interlocking shaped within the leaf surface. The sharp focus around the image center and particularly the frog eye continually draw your attention back to rest on his face. At night this is one of the favourite place for the young frogs, close to an outdoor light insects are attracted while the abundant leaves allow hiding from potential predators. Often the frogs will be heard rustling through the dried dead under-leaves to appear swinging and grappling their way out in search of a good feed. Not usually easily frightened by human presence the small frog is shown here glancing over in an uncertain pose, his body showing tension, unsure whether or not to flee. Folk wisdom tells that dreaming of a frog means good fortune, happiness and great friendships. May your dreams be filled with frogs...

She has won numerous international art contests. Her former employment includes Artist-In-Residence and Private Art Tutor for a community center and an Art Teacher for a children's resource unit.
