An absolutely beautiful piece of cast iron, superbly cast in fine and smooth detail as shown. The degree of intricacy is wonderful- and surely represents the zenith of cast Iron foundry ware? There's a raised medallion to the base that is difficult to read- and if anyone can shed some light on the makers of these beautiful items (I have seen something similar once before) I would be very thankful. The sheer lavish opulence of the piece has a French flavour to my eye? I would love to know more about the makers of these wonderful item, that just displays so beautifully in any context. There’s even a small hanging loop affixed to the centre back for wall mounting, which would be a wonderful way to show this item off. One of the finest such pieces I've offered at ebay- and guaranteed to impress the most discerning buyer- Just see the pictures they will do the selling! A guaranteed original antique. Condition is excellent as you can see.
