We Couldn't Leave Dinah by Mary Threadgold, illustrated by Stuart Tresilian. Printed in 1965, 13th Edition. Hardcover with a dustjacket. Dustjacket is foxed around the spine, name and stamp on flyleaf, otherwise excellent condition. The lives of a pony club group of children on an Anglo-French island were suddenly changed when Nazi Germany attempts to take their island and their ponies. Given a chance to escape, two of the children blunder and must remain on the island, refusing to leave their ponies behind. A beautiful tale of courage and strength in adversity, and ponies.
What happened to Kitty, by T.W. Wilson, published by Blackie in 1938. A beautiful book with an orphan, suffragettes, horses, arson and adventures. Pages tanned, two loose pages. Cloth hardcover, no dustjacket. Very good condition for its age, wear on cover around spine but hold tight. They just don't make books like this anymore. No publishing date, but research tells me the red cloth cover hardback was printed in 1938.
1953 Hardcover edition of Gretel At St. Bride's. A lovely story about a Jewish girl sent from Germany and her integration into an English school. Pages lightly spotted and tanned, no dustjacket, cover is faded on spine. Flyleaf has a stciker that reads 'The Young Worshipper's League Matyr's Church New Cumnock Presented To Morag Fleming For Year 1956.' |
