p196. 400 carat lightning ridge rough black opal.

Hows it going?

                        You are looking at a 400 carat parcel of Lightning Ridge rough opal. There is quite a few hours of cutting here.  It may be out by up to 5 grams, my scales weigh in 5 gram incriments. Please be understanding if your parcel is under or over a few grams. The weight is aproximate.

Ruler is in MM. Please use it to guage the sizes of the pieces.

  Rough opal often dosnt look like much on the outside. Its hard to see the colour when its hiding under sand, clay and other materials asociated with rough opal. Those of you who have bought from me will be aware that you often end up with quite a lot more than you see in the pictures. Each piece in this parcel has colour. I hand pick all the dead potch out that I see, and put it to the side. Im not into selling potch, Im into selling opal. I dont mess about with it, what i recieve, is what I sell (less any potch). I leave all the cutting, grinding, sawing and everything else to you.

    MY PICTURES ARE NOW BEING TAKEN USING A LIGHT BOX. It has "daylight" flurecent tubes. Its not as bright as daylight, it casts no shadows, and it means I can take pictures any time. I have experimented with the picture editing, and gotten them pretty close to the results I would get using daylight. Its very, very close, the colours just dont quite jump at you as much in the light box is all. The images arnt over saturated. what I see on my monitor is a very close representation of what i see in sunlight.

  Noticed how there is much less rough making it onto ebay these days? Thats because there wouldnt even be 200 people mining in Lightning Ridge. Simpily put, its just not coming out of the ground as much anymore. Even if you live in Lightning Ridge, its getting pretty hard to find. Im realy lucky in that I have access to some of the larger mining operations still going on in the Ridge and recieve rough to sell for them.

  Postage is a flat rate of US$15.00 for the first, and US$5.00 for each extra paid for at the same time and sent to the same adress. This price is flatrate worldwide for registered postage. Yes, that includes Australia, USA, UK, Vladivostok, EVERYWHERE.  I ship out once a week on Tuesdays. I cant combine seperate payments into one parcel, if you want to combine shipping, please pay once when your totaly finished bidding. Or just email me for an invoice if your not 100% sure. Paypal will hang me out to dry if anything happens to your parcel and I combined seperatly paid orders into one. Im not willing to risk it.
