 red pulped dragonfruit also known as red pitaya is a popular fruits born on a catus with very attractive large white flowers resemble moonflower or the queen of the night. its a very prolific plant which produces up to hundreds of fruits in old plants. The dragon fruit can sometimes have 5-6 cycles of harvests per year. There are some farms in Vietnam that produce 30 tons of fruit per hectare every year. The fruit can weigh from 150-600 grams; some may reach one kilogram. The flesh, which is eaten raw, is sweet with special aroma and low in calories. fruits can also be made into jam, fruit wine and ice cream. very easy to grow, very drought tolerant and cold hardy to about -2c.
