rz 250 rz250 k 1983 Yamaha 2 stroke classic collector

Yamaha RZ 250k 1983.

I imported this Bike from Wellington New Zealand about a year ago.

It has new correct Copper Alloy Exhaust Gaskets. A brand new Battery which is actually a bit too big so can't get the side cover on properly.

New metal Sump Plug Gasket. Fresh Gear Oil.

Have just thoroughly cleaned Carburettors and Oil Reservoir AirBox Filters etc...

Bike could do with new front tyre goes down over a few weeks. Would replace both if was keeping the Bike.

Clutch is very good and strong.

Front Brakes (dual discs : note rd250 single front disc drum rear. rd350 dual front disc drum rear.) Needs new Brake Pads all round and back disc a bit burnt from hard braking and worn pads. Brakes are excellent however and pull the bike up pretty quick.

Electrics all work but indicators not connected and Dashboard needs replacing or repairing is cracked and Taco needle fell off but still works.

Bike starts first kick no worries when warm and sometimes first kick when stone cold.

YPVS Decompression / Valve Set occurs correctly when ignition turned on. YPVS works good when riding and Piston / Rings obviously excellent.

Bike runs and idles absolutely perfectly.

Blue smoke at idle which clears away quickly when riding.

Factory Pipes very good condition. One has been opened up and rewelded but is good.

No engine / gearbox noises. Gearshift very good (clutch probably new). Engine incredibly tight and free revving. Powerband pulls superhard in all gears. Will pull the wheel up in most gears if you are over enthusiastic.

Steering is excellent and will drive/roll straight if you remove hands from bars.

Front shocks good.

Chain new.

Some wear and tear on mostly original paint work. A dent in the tank or two (see pictures) but not serious. Chips and scratches on the tank has probably had a tank respray at some time.

Mudguards / side covers / tail look original and a few clips snapped off but mostly there.

Seat very good (see pictures).

Could do with a new Clutch lever. Left hand mirror gone mounting thread stripped.

Head Light and Tail working.

KickStart and mechanism good.

The Bike is very well kept and at some stage the Frame has been powder coated Blue and this is a very good job.

The RZ 250 is rated at 49 hp which is the same as the RD 350 so plenty of power. Anyone who has ridden one will know.

I have only ridden it a bit as is not registered but have been running BP98 Fuel and starting it about once a week for the last few months.

Am Selling Reluctantly to get Cash otherwise would buy a couple of really good new tyres and carry on with grabbing a dash off EBay (seen correct dash for) and a mirror and bracket etc....

The Dash does work and you could glue a few cracks in the case but a really good one is the go and I have seen them for about $150.
