vintage/antique wool spinning wheel and matching chair....i don't know the first thing about how these work but i will describe it as best as possible, it is in very good condition, has a handle on the side of the wheel that rotates the wheel, the handle attaches to the foot pedal so hands are free, the strap that joins the foot pedal to the handle is missing but it is easily fixed, i have been informed that it needs a 1 strip of leather to hold it together, one leg has a crack in the wood, it needs glue, other than those 2 things it is in perfect condition, it does work but i don't know how, there are 3 spindles and hooks that the wool makes it way through, the chair is very strong and does not wobble at all, someone has reinforced the legs to the base of the chair at some stage to add extra support, i don't know how old it is and there are no markings on it, if anyone has information or any questions please don't hesitate to contact me , it is a lovely piece and would be perfect for decor in a rustic or country setting or can be used by a clever person....it comes apart into several pieces so i can post it however i cannot guess at the postage until auction ends as i need to leave it together to answer any question i may get,it measures 86 cm high and 42 cm wide at the widest point, which is the wheel. chair measures the same.
i have just been sent a message from a lovely ebayer giving me heaps of information about this spinning wheel, i decided just to add the message to my listing... Hi there Nadine,
I
have more information about your wheel. This wheel is a Wee Peggy or
Little Peggy and was made by a man called John Rappard in NZ. They are
great spinning wheels and I have one in fact it was the first wheel I
bought and still love,I Like the spinning chair though. If anyone asks
the wheel can be both single and double band, double band is better
truly although the single banders think theirs are better. If you get
any curly questions I am sure I can help you, but anyone who does buy it
will be happy
Cheers
Jane
thanks for the info jane....
