Vintage Retro MALVERN STAR 2 STAR LADIES BICYCLE BIKE

A totally rideable, very vintage Malvern Star 2 star ladies single speed bike.

The bike's serial number is 5M 33167 - it is stamped at the top of the seat tube.   The frame has horizontal drop-outs.

This bike has previously been professionally restored - but that was many years ago.   The paint job was absolutely beautiful, but is now quite faded - some of the restored paint 'scrolling' is still evident.

I believe the guards are original, but I'm in doubt about the originality of the vintage Araya 28" rims - they are certainly chrome and old, but whether they are from the 50s (this bike is definitely from the 50s or earlier) is questionable.

The frame and forks are dead straight; the head set and bottom bracket are smooth and tight; the hubs (the rear is a vintage Favorit - as is the rear back-pedal brake) turn smoothly; the tyres, whilst a little perished, have plenty of tread and pump up nicely. 

The wheels are almost totally 'true' and the spoke tensions are good.   One of the rims is quite badly rusted; the other is pretty good.  

The cranks and chain ring are original and not bent.   

The Japanese saddle is vintage, but I think it is post 50s - it has a smallish split underneath.

You can hop on this baby and ride off into the sunset (or down to the pub....or the beach, wherever).

The photos really tell the story.   Included with the purchase is a spare pair of vintage Malvern Star handle bars in pretty good condition.

You will, of course, appreciate that vintage Malvern Star 2 stars are now becoming quite hard to obtain - especially with 'true' frames and forks.
