This week I am offering you a 4 minute Edison Blue Amberol Phonograph Cylinder Record no. 1532 Title: Dixie Medley, by Van Eps Banjo Orchestra.
The record is NB and is visually graded as VG.
Edison Blue Amberol Records were produced from 1908 until mid 1929. The heyday of mass production and sales was from 1910-1920. Many of the highly sought after records are from before this (flat-rim records or Comical Records) or after (electrical records, Dance Band, and Jazz Records) because of desirability or because they were produced in lower numbers. Blue Amberols were made from a blue dyed celluloid with a plaster core and are quite durable. Many of them are in good and playable condition today, and have become serious collectors items with values ranging from several dollars to hundreds of dollars.
You will be seeing some of these in all categories in my listings over the next several months. I am selling my collection piece by piece, including many many doubles I have been holding. Keep your eyes and ears peeled to my auctions.
Please don't ask me about specific records I have or will be selling, I will NOT reply to this, I will auction them as I go and as I uncover them.
The Edison Blue Amberol Series Numbering System, for your reference:
USA: 1500 - 57xx
Italian: 22xxx
British: 23xxx
German: 26xxx
French: 27xxx
Operatic:28xxx
Special/Ethnic: 9xxx
My visual grading (ONLY) categories based on inspection of the record groove condtion are as follows (I can not play each record , I have too many of them)
P - Poor
F - Fair
G - Good
VG - Very Good
E - Excellent
AN - Almost like new
I mention missing plaster and splits/cracks. Records with more than 3/4 inch plaster missing are not listed and neither are records with splits extending into the playing area. Some records' plaster cores are swollen due to age, weather, and moisture and may require reaming with a special reamer. I DON'T do this to the records I sell, as most collectors prefer to do this themselves. I sell the records 'AS IS' AND 'as found'
Box Conditions (if any)
OB - Original Box
OBT - Original Box and Top
OBRT - Original Box and Replacement Top
RBRT - Replacement Box and Replacement Top
NB - No Box
