This spindle is suited to spinning light to medium weight yarns, including fine merino or mohair for shawls, silk and cotton, through to wools for jumpers and other knitwear . Weight is about 30 to 35 grams and varies slightly with each spindle. It can be set up as either a top or bottom whorl as the whorl is not glued to the shaft, allowing you to experiment and place the whorl where it suits you best.

Standard set up: shaft length from whorl approximately 8.5 inches, and pointed at the bottom, so it carries on spinning once it reaches the ground. It can also be rolled down or up the thigh for faster performance.

Whorl is approximately 2.75 inches and is rim weighted, making for a faster, longer and steadier spin. My spindles are finished with oils and waxes to seal the wood.

I have other weights and styles in my store, and can also make up a learners kit that includes tops and/or cleaned picked fleece. I use all my spindles myself and am happy to answer any questions you may have.

This spindle comes with 250 grams of spinning fibres and instructions and is an ideal starter pack for learners.
