CENSOR SEAL DATES IT TO 1860

This Authentic Antique First Edition Japanese Woodblock Print By Kunisada Displays the Very Rare Signature Kunisada Nidaime Ga in a Yellow Border Red Ground Toshidama Cartouche. This Signature in a Different Form was a Very Early One from the 1840s and I have Never Seen it Used in a Toshidama Cartouche Indicating the Scene was Created for a Special Purpose. The Red Ground Toshidama Seal was used between 1847 and 1860 and This Woodblock Also Shows the Aratame Censor Seal for the Year 1860 so this Accurately Dates this Very Rare Kunisada Scene Displays Excellent Well Entrenched Mineral Colours Especially the Amazing Malachite Based Greens and Green Blues.

This Excellent, Original, Highly Collectible First Edition Woodblock Print by Utagawa Kunisada Measures 37cm x 27.5cm (14.5 inches x 10.8 inches), is Printed on Fine Washi, Hand Made, Japanese Mulberry Bark Paper with Strong Ink Bleed Through to the Reverse Side and is in Good Condition for its 149 years of Age. ABOUT THE ARTIST

Utagawa Kunisada was born in the Honjo district of Edo in 1786. He entered the school of Utagawa Toyokuni around 1800 as apprentice at the age of fourteen. His first printed works began to appear in late 1807. When Toyokuni II died in 1835, ten years after the master, Kunisada was entitled to use the name Toyokuni III. He died in 1865.
