These are the newer models with an enhanced design that makes them compatible with both SAS and SATA disks, at up to 3Gbps speeds.

Fast access speeds - up to 3Gbps for SAS and SATA-II, and up to 1.5Gbps for SATA-I. The backplane also supports, but does not implement RAID - you'll need a RAID card or RAID capable motherboard for that - Please see our other auctions for suitable cards, and save on shipping.

Featuring SAS and SATA support, these backplanes can adapt to your requirements over time. You can add drives, upgrade to SAS, or run SATA-I, SATA-II and SAS all at the same time. And with room for up to 4 disks, you have endless configuration options, as determined by your controller: For example: JBOD, JBOD/RAID, or RAID. The backplanes simply pass the data signals through to the controller, so you can have 1 or more backplanes, or disks mounted in other enclosures, and as long as you have enough disks and connect the data cables to the appropriate controllers, you can implement any RAID level you want or even multiple RAID sets.

Each drive slot has an independent locking mechanism, power button and LED display.

The Backplane only requires 3 power connectors to power the unit (including fan) and the 4 drives, which can be Molex or SATA power connectors, or a combination thereof.

Each Status LED shows power (green) and activity (orange).

SATA data cables connect to the rear of the unit. There's no fiddly cable fitting inside the unit or drive trays, like some other drive enclosures. The HDD's SATA port aligns with the internal mechanisms, for easy connections.

Jumper settings allow configuration of alarm temperature thresholds and fan speeds. Extension jumpers allows the detection of Fan Failure and Temperature.
