In 'Painting China for Pleasure and Profit' Ruth Little walks the reader through all stages of painting china, beginning with the first chapters of

Supplies, Kilns, Firing, Preparing Colors and the Palette, Brush Strokes, Making a Color Chart and much more. She then goes on to describe in

detail how to paint flowers such as roses, pansies and violets, and fruits such as grapes, strawberries and blackberries; pinecones and acorns

also get a mention. Accompanied by black and white line drawings and photos, as well as a fold out full-colour plate, this book answers most

questions pertaining to painting china as a hobby. 

 

 

Published in the US in 1963, and personally autographed by the author, this book is in amazing condition for its age. The pages are clean and the binding has remained tight. There is however, what appears to be adhesive tape residue staining on the front flyleaf and title page corners, as well on the last two pages of the book. While the book is signed by the author on the front flyleaf, there is also a previous owner's inscription on the same page. The front and back boards are in excellent unmarked condition. The dustjacket is discoloured and shows signs of shelfwear on the top and bottom edges. The reverse side of the jacket also has a number of pieces of tape attached, I believe put there as reinforcement for the edges, because I can see no sign of tear damage. Overall, a good copy of an old book that remains in excellent reading condition.
