These tires are true SKINWALL tires. What is a skinwall versus a gumwall tire? To save weight, skinwall tires have just enough rubber in the sidewall to cover the nylon casing. Gumwall tires have a heavy, thick coating of rubber that completely covers the casing. This is why on a true skinwall you see the "threads" of the casing. What is great about these tires is the "natural" (tan) skinwall is the correct vintage color. Some newer skinwall tires have such a light, blonde coloration that they really stand out as being historically incorrect - but not these - as the pictures show (taken in natural light), these are just like the originals from back in the day.
These tires are the Duro brand which is made by Hwa Fong of Taiwan. These were custom manufactured for Porkchop's BMX Planet.
Hwa Fong tires came stock on many quality "bike shop" BMX bicycles from the 1980's. Sometime in the late 1980's or early 1990's they began marketing their tires under the "Duro" brand name. These tires were made from the original molds - but have been manufactured brand new. In addition, these tires are stored in a climate controlled (both temperature and humidity) environment with no sunlight. Therefore, you are guaranteed a soft, supple tire that is mint condition if you want to show, or safe if you want to ride. Hwa Fong has been producing quality tires for many applications, both motorized and non-motorized for decades, most recently manufacturing Michelin automobile tires under contract.
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: I do NOT fold tires - therefore, USPS Priority International *is* the "cheapest" shipping method based on dimensions. Compare to UPS and FedEx rates... USPS Priority is half as much.
I have hundreds of other old, mid and new school BMX items - please check my store: http://stores.ebay.com/porkchops-bmx-planet
Shipping
I happily ship anywhere in the world, however International Buyers – Please Note:
-
Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility.
-
Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying.
Here is how shipping costs are calculated: I take the item(s), put it in a box with packing material and weigh it. I enter that weight in the listing with the appropriate shipping service. I ship anything under 13 oz. that meets size requirements via First Class Parcel service, which ranges from $1-$4 versus the $5-$7 others charge to ship similar items. I ship any 14oz. to 1lb items Priority Mail because it is cheaper than Parcel Post. Anything over 1lb goes Parcel Post unless you are within a couple hundred miles of Atlanta - then it goes Priority Mail because the rates are cheaper. Compare my shipping to other sellers of similar or identical items – I am usually less.
To get a discount for combined shipping, you must wait to pay until you have "bought" everything. Then when you go to pay, it will combine all items and figure shipping based on weight.
If you are in the Atlanta area, you are always welcome to pick your item up instead of paying shipping. (I live in Cartersville, which is about 50 miles northwest of Atlanta)
Payment
I must RECEIVE payment within 10 days. If I do not receive payment within 10 days, I will re-list the item, report you as a non-paying bidder and block you from my listings/auctions.
SALES TAX IS CHARGED ON ITEMS SHIPPED TO A GEORGIA ADDRESS.
Returns
Returns cause higher prices for everyone. If you feel you need to return an item, contact me with the circumstances BEFORE sending it back. Any mistakes on my part, I will absolutely make 100% right. However, if you did not bother to measure, check your application, ask questions, or just in general made an impulse buy that you later changed your mind about, it is unlikely I will accept the item back (rare exceptions made). I do my best to provide detailed information and even give "tips" about certain items if I know the application is strange or uncommon. I provide measurements most commonly in millimeters, as this is the standard for bike parts worldwide - there are tools like www.onlineconversion.com if you are not used to dealing in the Metric system. And finally, I am always available for questions, and typically respond within just a few hours (and many times within a few minutes) so don't be shy about asking questions BEFORE YOU BUY.
