FREEDOM
by David "Zeb" Cook
DARK SUN is the next campaign setting for D&D 4th Edition. Due for release in 2010 the setting will be set on the world of Athas, as it was when it was released for AD&D 2nd Edition in the 1990's. Why not get a head start on the 2010 release with source books and adventures set in the DARK SUN AD&D 2nd edition universe. Any experienced DM should be able to convert and use this material for their own 4th edition campaign. For more on the DARK SUN D&D campaign setting see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Sun
Enter the ancient and corrupt city of Tyr, whose tyrannical sorcerer king has ruled for a millennium. As you wander the city, from the wreck of the elven warrens to the sanguine splendor of the arena, you realise that the citizens of Tyr thirst less for water than they do for freedom.
Now, after a century of slave labour, sorcerer king Kalak's great zigguarat nears completion. He has promised the city a grand celebration when the monumnet is done, complete with the most brutal arena spectacle in Tyr's long history. Rumours abound as to the nature of the spectacle: some believe it will bring with it the longed-for manumission of countless slaves; others fear the annihilation of Tyr and her people as a sacrifice to Kalak's hunger for power; and a secret few believe it will be a day of revolution - a day of freedom!
Designed for four to seven players of starting levels, the DM's Book and Player's Book inside this pack provide DARK SUN game DMs with a campaign base in Tyr, and give PCs a brutal introduction to Athas.
This pack contains two spiral bound books containing the adventure Freedom. The DM's book containst each encounter the DM needs, with pertinent tips on running the encounter. The Player's Book contains maps, illustrations, and text the players need to reference. The extra 16-page book contains a parallel adventure and fiction that will broaden your view of Tyr and Athas.
