Gracie Pwerle Morton
AMAZING GRACIE AT HER AMAZING BEST -
DON'T MISS THIS INVESTMENT SPECIAL!
TITLE: Bush Medicine Dreaming
PAINTED IMAGE SIZE: X LARGE ~ approx 1525 x 895 mm [plus border for framing]
COMPLETED: 2009
MEDIUM: Artist acrylic paint on quality cotton canvas
THE PAINTING: This is a truly beautiful interpretation of Gracie's Bush Medicine Dreaming [you will not see a better example], depicted in a bold and intricate display of exquisite detailed dotwork with rich red, green and yellow ochre dots set against a contrasting black primed background. The rows of white dots signify the tracks the women take when gathering the bush medicine leaves.
This amazingly powerful visual piece is an absolute credit to Gracie's exceptional artistic talent. Some critics firmly believe that Gracie's fine dotting technique is at least equal [some say better] to her famous cousin's, the internationally revered Kathleen Petyarre - a praiseworthy accolade indeed - and in this stunning painting, it's very easy to see why. Without a doubt, this large investment piece is an absolute stunner!

THE ARTIST:
Born: c1956
Skin Name: Pwerle (Pwerl)

Gracie Pwerle Morton is an important Aboriginal and highly credentialed artist, whose body of work has featured both nationally and internationally. Her career began in the 1970's with the Utopia Women's Batik Group and continued on canvas in the late 1980's.
She hails from an impressive artistic pedigree. Her mother is Mertle Petarre, and Kathleen and Gloria Petyarre are her first cousins. She is also a direct decendant of the most famous female indigenous artist of them all, the late great Emily Kame Kngwarreye. And after all, she is a Pwerle!
Gracie is one of the senior traditional custodians for both the Altyerre (Dreaming) and the vast expanse of related country, some 263kms north of Alice Springs. In accordance to traditional law the responsibility for the Bush Plum and Mountain Devil Dreaming have been passed down to Gracie from her elders, who are responsible for ensuring that she proudly preserves their traditions.
Gracie's amazing works have been extensively exhibited and collected both publicly and privately, locally and abroad, including our own National Gallery in Canberra.
PROVENANCE: This painting will be supplied with a COA with photos of Gracie holding and signing the painting that she has signed verso.
