Joy Nakamarra has a very distinctive and detailed style of painting. Her works often combine areas of traditional dots, detailed characterisations and more general brush marks. Her designs are based on dreaming stories, mainly focused around the collecting and gathering of bush tucker. These Dreamings have been handed down to her by the ancestors in her family and include Collecting Bush Berries and Sultanas, Collecting Bush Onions, Collecting Bush Potato Beans and Water, Collecting Bush Tomato, Honey Ants and Tracking Kangaroo, as well as Women's Dreamings. Her sense of design and attention to detail, usually in a compact space, has earned her much acclaim, and as such, her works have been extensively exhibited and collected.
PROVENANCE: A Certificate of Authenticity with a photo of Joy holding her work, that she has titled and signed verso.
