My daughter needed to have surgery three times before she was one and for each surgery I rocked her to sleep in the sling close to me and then she was given the anesthetic while she was snug. He was a relatively high need baby for the first four months of life, suffering from colic, reflux & cow-protein intolerance.The best thing to soothe him was to carry him, which he loved (and so did I) At the time I brought a conventional baby carrier, which I used before coming across your Baba Slings. Although I did have a little trouble getting it right the first few times, it very quickly came together& now both baby Ben & I wouldn't be without it. Hi Shanti, just thought I'd give you some feedback on the babasling. My little boy arrived safely 2 weeks late on the 24th of August, his name is Bryn. I started him in the babasling a few days ago. The first time I used it he didn't seem to like it, but now he has been converted ! He is a very alert and wakeful baby, and he cannot get the sleep he needs with alot of light, noise and distractions around him. He needs to be at home in his cot to sleep. But alas, I need to go places with him, and so have found the babasling is wonderful, he gets to sleep in there now time at all and is nice and warm, being right next to me. I'm very relieved indeed !!!
This is our second child and second baba sling. We use the sling with our 10 month old daughter daily still, and love it absolutely. (Though do admit I'm relieved the rings are replaced with buckle)

We are really impressed with our purchase and found it to be a huge advantage waiting in the long lines at the airports, which was the main reason we purchased the Baba Sling in the first place, for our recent holiday. Ducking into the shop with the 3yo and 7yo in tow, the Buba Sling is a real advantage saving time not having to assemble the pram and still leaving a pair of hands to carry other necessities. A really simple to use accessory and so versatile as it can be utilised in so many ways for so much longer than the complicated upright baby carriers. I've been experimenting with various positions, and have found it very easy to breastfeed baby in. I was just writing to say how much my partner and I love our sling. Our 7 week old daughter absolutely loves it and it makes doing things so much easier like shopping and housework as she is so peaceful in it and i can just carry her with me. lots of my friends have complained that they have never seen her awake as i always have her in it when i visit them. I just wanted to thank you guys for such a wonderful product...You may remember that about a month ago I emailed you and asked if it was too late to wear my then 8 month old son. The weekend after I received your email I went to the Riverside markets in Brisbane and bought a Baba sling. There and then I had it fitted and wore my son for two hours. Normally he would be fussing if he were in the stroller, but he was quite content and just lay his head against my chest. A few days later I went out for a walk with him in the sling, and to my astonishment, he fell asleep (first time ever he has fallen asleep while being carried). I put the sling into a sleeping position and when I got home transferred him into his cot. He slept for an hour and a half (the longest in a long time!!!). I have worn the sling everywhere and prefer to use it over the stroller. Nathaniel gets so excited when he sees me get the sling out. He loves it and I love it too!!! The sling is so comfortable and I have never experienced back, shoulder or neck pain or discomfort as previously experienced when using the baby harnesses. I thought I would wait to write you just to make sure that the sling was as great as I had anticipated it would be. The other weekend, my husband and I went for a walk along the beach. I opted to wear Nathaniel in the sling and he fell asleep on our walk. My husband could not believe that he fell asleep without a fuss! Even today, my son was cranky and clingy, so I wore him while I was doing my housework and preparing the meals. He was so happy and content!

I read 'The Continuum Concept' about a month after giving birth and decided based on Jean Liedloff's theory, as well as my own intuition, to raise my daughter (Lae-ella) 'in arms' until she decided to inititate her own independence.
A friend of ours, with a young child agreed to let me try her sling when we visited a community market out in nature. So I had my first 'baba sling' experience and was hooked. I got the number, ordered one and a week later we had one of our own.

Q: Can people with back problems use a Baba Sling? A:Yes! However, depending on the seriousness of the problem you may wish to consult with your doctor.
The beauty with the Baba Sling is that as you can easily alternate between several positions. Changing positions is essential while carrying baby, as it will redistribute the weight of your child to different areas of your body. This will avoid unnecessary stress on any one point for extended periods. We also suggest you alternate shoulders regularly, especially if you are prone to back problems.
As baby grows and is going through “needy” periods of constantly wanting to be held, the Baba Sling can actually help save your back. Using the Hipstar will remove the necessity to have your hip awkwardly jutting out and allows you to stand straight (not to mention be hands free!).
The Baba Sling has a unique double adjustable strapping system, which allows you to bring baby's weight into your centre of gravity. Again this will minimize stress to your back. The trick is to have the upper strap pulled nice and tight. A good way to tell if the upper strap is too loose is if you feel it necessary to constantly support baby with your hands; probably you need to tighten the upper strap a little.
Q:I have a heavy toddler can I use the Baba Sling? A:Yes. Be sure to change shoulders periodically. A good tip is to slide the shoulder padding off your shoulder and onto the upper arm. Have the Baba Sling adjusted as tightly as possible so that baby's weight isn't pulling you forward. Carrying in the Hipstar and the Piggyback positions are generally best with toddlers.

Q: Does the Baba sling put any pressure on my baby’s spine?
A: Spinal care is vital in early months and years to ensure the correct development of baby's skeletal structure. Many health care practitioners such as osteopaths and chiropractors consider the hammock style of the Baba Sling to be ideal for healthy spinal development in infancy.
Unlike upright carriers the Baba Sling puts no unnatural pressure on babies’ soft and undeveloped hips and spine. It is specifically designed to support baby’s entire weight comfortably and evenly.
When baby is in an upright position in the Baba Sling you may notice that their weight is not held between the legs but rather is supported by the hammock of the Baba Sling, which encircles their entire bottom right up to their knees.

Q: Will the fabric fade? A: Being 100% cotton, naturally the fabric will fade a little over time. The fabric is color fast so the fading should be quite minimal.
Q: Do you have organic cottons? A: Yes. Our organic cotton baby slings are made from unbleached Australian grown organic cotton.
Q: I have a Baba Sling and I am wondering which is the best position to carry my newborn baby? A: There are 3 positions that are ideal for newborns. Hammock Style is perfect for sleeping and breastfeeding. Uprightis ideal for shorter periods of time and is helpful for relieving colic and bringing up wind after feeding. Easy Rider helps baby to see their world and allows for discreet breastfeeding.
Q: What is the best position to carry a 1-year old? A: TheHammock Style, Upright, HipstarandPiggyback positionsare the most popular at this age. Please refer to Instructions and note the age guide mentioned for each of the 7 positions.
Q: My baby fusses when I put him in the Baba Sling, do you have any tips? A: Practice with a doll or teddy first so you are completely confident in what you are doing. Babies are very sensitive to what their parents are feeling. In the initial stages it may be helpful to use the Baba Sling when you are feeling calm. Go with baby for a walk, do the little parent “Jig” or feed them in the Baba Sling. This will usually pacify them.
Alternatively, try different positions; some babies don't like having their faces covered or their legs inside the hammock. Try exposing their head, arms and feet. Have confidence! Thousands of families have greatly benefited from using the Baba Sling. So do persist.
