This is a hand carved hairpin from Tampaksiring, Bali.   

Beautifully made, this decorative hairpin looks very pretty on.   The natural wood is variegated in colour.  Each pin is quite unique!   They give a beautiful touch to your long hair when it is pinned up (see my Guides for some bun & updo ideas), and also make a wonderful gift for others.

 

This two pronged / fork hairpin measures approx 3.8 cm in width near the end and 17.8 cm in length (usable length is 12 cm), weighing 10 g.   It is made from Sono wood, a durable and sustainable hard wood which holds up well in moving to dry colder climates, and has beautiful markings.  It is much more common than other tropical hardwoods of comparable beauty- some of which have been sadly overused and now have become rare.  These are listed as multiple items, so  may differ slightly being handmade from a natural material.

 

This product is made in Tampaksiring, a little town in the centre of Bali.   We first spotted these lovely hairpins in Yogyakarta and bought some there, and by an amazing coincidence we met the maker while travelling home via Bali.  We buy direct from the maker – resulting in fantastic prices for you!
