  This is a lovely Doulton Lambeth jug or tankard dating c.1881. It is 9 1/2 inches/24cm tall and in fair condition. I would think it has been dropped at some time and this has created a couple of cracks which starts at the top and run down and across the body of the jug. Because of the nature of the decoration the crack on the outside does not look too bad but it does 'creak' a bit. It is beautifully decorated and has the initials AS on the base which could be Agnes Sandes. It has a silver gilt band on the top rim. It is a lovely display piece which I have enjoyed looking at for a long time. Please bear in mind that items of some age can quite naturally have flaws, paint loss or manufacturing ‘dings’ and whilst I always try to point these out in my description, some antique pieces may not be perfect.
