A staple in modern motoring history, BMW’s E36 3-Series has been one of the company’s best selling vehicles and, thanks to its proven durability, styling and the pleasure derived from the driving experience, has now developed somewhat of a cult status amongst. 

The example on offer was delivered new on the 7^th of August, 1996 and is believed to have been with just 2 owners from new, the most recent of which purchasing the car from a BMW main dealer as an ‘approved used BMW’ in 2000.

Finished in deep racing green with black trim, a rear spoiler and beautiful 5-spoke alloy wheels, this 3-Series is a very good looking car.  Its features include climate control air conditioning, dual front airbags, central door locking, power steering and windows and ABS Brakes.

The car is to be supplied with one original key and its original handbooks including its service logbook with entries made at the following intervals:

Having now covered a handsome 303,000k’s, this BMW is a surprisingly fresh car for its mileage and performs very well.  Bolstered by its excellent service history and having driven it extensively my self I see no cause for concern regarding its future reliability and durability.

Given the rather subjective nature involved when assessing the condition of older vehicles, your personal inspection is strongly advised.  In this way, you may form your own opinions of the car and can judge whether or not it will meet with your expectations.

Offered as a guide, my opinions of the car and its condition are as follows:

BODY & PAINT:  is in very good general condition however with its age and mileage in mind, is of course imperfect.  There are some minor anomalies to be found when inspected, the most notable being a scrape on the top of the offside rear quarter panel that has been touched up.  Otherwise, the BMW presents extremely well with good, shiny paint and a straight body showing no evidence of previous accident repair.  On balance, while not new, this is a good looking car.

TRIM & INTERIOR:  remains in very good order and certainly belies the cars age and mileage.  In fact, with the exception of some minor typical stitching separation on the base of the drivers seat, the cabin of this BMW could basically be described as being immaculate.  All trim remains clean and tidy including the seats, carpets and door trims and the dash shows no adverse UV fatigue.  Certainly the cabin is a nice place to be.

MECHANICALS:  The 318i is very good on the road and still feels tight, sharp and fresh.  It starts easily and runs perfectly with no smoke, knocks, rattles or untoward noises and it always maintains correct operating temperature.  The power steering is beautifully weighted and the suspension offers an excellent ride.  The auto gearbox works perfectly as do the power windows and the air conditioning is very cold though, in typical fashion, the screen sometimes goes blank which causes the system to drop out (a common and easy fix).  This aside, the BMW remains incredibly hard to fault on the road and does not seem to misbehave.

As mentioned previously, I advise and welcome any interested party to come and take the car for a test drive themselves or to send a friend, relative or mechanic in to inspect it on your behalf – being interstate is certainly no excuse!  As I say in every one of my listings: common sense should tell you that my personal opinions reflected in the above listing and 12 digital photographs are no substitute for your own detailed inspection and test drive.  Your bid is to BUY – no exceptions!

I have no idea what would be required of this vehicle to pass a RWC – I am not a mechanic so I can not speak to this subject with any authority.  BE UNDER NO ILLUSION IN YOUR DECISION TO BID – HAVE IT INSPECTED!
