Many gardeners appreciate the delicate and intricate beauty of orchid flowers but assume that orchids are expensive, difficult to grow and require extensive growing facilities; as a result few attempt to grow them. However if you can grow vegetables and flowers, you will be equally successful with orchids.

Dendrobiums are epiphytes, or air plants and can be gown attached to tree branches or grown in an open mix that will give them good aeration and equally good drainage. You can purchase a good quality prepared orchid mix, this makes potting them very easy.

Keep evenly moist while in the active growing stage and allow to dry out slightly between watering. Sufficient light is important, place in a bright light position but not full sun. Fertilizer should be provided on a regular basis during the active growing season.
