All sugars are not created equal.
A simple monosaccharide sugar affects blood glucose rapidly. delivers 15 grams of pure glucose (dextrose).

Glucose vs. Sucrose (table sugar)
Sucrose is 50% glucose and 50% fructose. Fructose has a lesser and slower affect on blood glucose. 30 grams of sucrose would initially provide 15 grams of glucose.
