Lillirox: Pale Green cd 2007 Lillirox – also known as Lillian Ferrier Gantner – is as outspoken as she is talented. The Sydneysider got her first guitar at the tender age of eight and began singing and writing music at 13. “I’m not sure exactly where my musical abilities stemmed from or how the passion came about but I guess it was something that was just always there,” she says. “My mum buying me a guitar fuelled my desire to perform.” It is this desire that has led Lillian to where she is today. Lillirox has just released her debut record, ‘Pale Green’, and is currently performing around Sydney. Her mum’s taste in music influenced her greatly. As a kid she listened to a lot of Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and Talking Heads, and later on developed a love for artists such as Tracy Chapman, Jeff Buckley, Tori Amos, Xavior Rudd, Bowie, and Prince, to name but a few! Lillirox’s music can be described as folk/indie/soft rock, but I personally do not like to put her in to any genre, as she really has quite a unique sound. “The force of women’s music dating back to the beginning was and always has been extremely powerful,” Lillirox says. ~ Written by Louise McCormack
